Our Vision

Be Part of the Mission

Our mission is to save and rehome rescued Great Pyrenees dogs into safe, caring companion homes in the U.S. and Canada. If you love the Great Pyrenees breed, you’ll love what we do. We’re the only Great Pyrenees rescue with a Four-star rating on Charity Navigator and a Platinum rating on GuideStar. NGPR is staffed mostly by volunteers, with 95% of our expenses going directly to care and transport of the dogs. Please donate now to help Save More Pyrs

Help Meet the Need

The establishment of our national rescue organization inn 2006 opened up many new possibilities for adopters and rescuers. To date, over 10,000 dogs have been rescued by the NGPR national network. Unfortunately, the number of dogs needing rescue has grown and healthy dogs can be euthanized after only a couple of days in a shelter. We believe if everyone who wants a Pyr or a Pyr puppy takes a rescue dog, regardless of geographic location, we can seriously reduce the number of dogs who are destroyed.

Answer the Call

We don’t believe that “geography is destiny”. NGPR transfers animals in overburdened regions across state lines to areas with greater adoption opportunities. You can support this important program by fostering or adopting a pet in need of relocation. It is important for everyone to understand that Great Pyrenees rescue is not a regional problem only affecting those in the South—it’s a national concern for everyone who loves this breed.

In line with our mission, NGPR has been the recipient of grants from the ASPCA, the Petco Foundation, the PEDIGREE Foundation, Born Free U.S.A and Wags and Menace Make A Difference. Spay and Neuter, Transport and Education grants from these organizations have strengthened our organization and ability to Save More Pyrs.

Please spay and neuter and support NGPR and all Great Pyrenees rescue groups in our effort to reduce the number of dogs who need homes.
