Please help our Great Pyrenees Neediest Cases. We try to limit our fundraising to a few times a year to help Great Pyrenees dogs. But sadly, sick and injured Great Pyrenees appear constantly. Frequently we are the “rescue of last resort” who will help a dog that other groups have passed by. NGPR is a 501(c)(3) non-profit and your tax-deductible donation helps save our neediest case dogs, who can also be found on these pages: 2025 ,2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016. There’s no end to the sick and injured Great Pyrenees needing help and we will never stop helping them!

Buddy 3/23
Cataracts Be Gone

We were notified by a Kentucky shelter about a horrible hoarding situation involving several Pyrs and Pyr mixes. We agreed to take Buddy and some of the other dogs not knowing anything about their condition or Buddy’s eyes. When Buddy was neutered, the vet who examined him diagnosed bilateral cataracts! We never had a dog with this eye condition so he was brought to a specialty clinic in Nashville where he had cataract surgery for both eyes at the end of March. He needs eye drops and constant care from his foster for several weeks while he recuperates. The cost for Buddy’s surgery and care to date is a whopping $6500.
Rocky 3/12
Trapped At Last

Poor Rocky was wandering around Alabama in horrible condition with a severely infected neck wound. People said you could smell the infection a mile away but he wouldn’t come to anyone. The shelters nearby set up traps but when they were unable to catch this elusive guy, they gave up and removed them. We begged Lost Paws Trapping Team to come and finally, they agreed to help. They set up a very large trap and captured Rocky after a week and a half. We brought him to a clinic where they shaved his neck, flushed out the wound and gave him antibiotics. His age is estimated at around four. We were told Rocky was dumped in this area years ago. An old lady was taking care of him until her health failed and he was left on her property alone since last summer. This very sweet boy will be moving up to Ohio for the next phase of his recovery.
Dove 3/4
Do-Over

Our sweet Dove was hit by a car and left for dead. The shelter she was brought to wanted to euthanize her. Luckily, Journey’s Home Rescue Alliance pulled her and paid for duel hip surgeries (right & left sides). Then they turned to NGPR to manage Dove’s R&R and eventually find her a home. Dove had her first hip surgeries about a month ago but there was one glitch. The right side did great, left side did not. Yesterday Dove got an FHO to remove the unstable part of her hip joint which we hope will put her on the road to recovery.
Fern 3/3
Another HBC

We got in two new girls under a year old who were roaming in McKenzie, Tennessee. We were trying to find spots for them in rescue and then one of them got hit by a car and injured. Our TN volunteer, Anastasia was able to pick both of the girls up. Fern had surgery for her hip before she came into rescue. Her FHO and spay were both done at the same time. They are very sweet girls, Fern has on the green surgery suit.
Ajax 2/11
Double Trouble

Ajax came into rescue with his brother Atlas in the Spring of 2025. They are a bonded pair found wandering on the highway in Alabama. They would have been injured or killed if not rescued. Both dogs have wonky walks due to bad breeding but Ajax was the worst. He had FHO hip surgery to repair his hip issue on Feb. 11. Another surgery is scheduled for later this year.
