There are more dogs in need now than there ever have been, but less support. Many municipal shelters are so full they turn away strays, like Gus and Leo (left) found in Pennsylvania. They have stopped providing basic services like vaccinations, heartworm tests or spay/neuters. In many places the entire burden now falls on rescues like NGPR who have to find fosters, arrange transport and pay the going rate for veterinary services—and we can’t pass these increased costs along to adopters. Pyrenees have been running loose in an abandoned trailer park in Smith County, TN—a place with no animal welfare system, no animal control or shelter. One woman has been rounding them up and routing them to NGPR and a livestock guardian rescue. We know we’ve haven’t seen the last of the Pyrs running loose there.

Qualified Charitable Distributions (QCD) and donations made through Donor Advised Funds (DAF) to National Great Pyrenees Rescue, EIN 20-8367835 are eligible for the match.
