We appreciate your help for our dogs. Great Pyrenees are an at-risk breed with large numbers showing up at shelters around the country daily. There are so many, the Pyr rescue groups across the country cannot help them all but we try. Many of these dogs are in sad and neglected condition. On the right, clockwise from top left, Naomi is a senior who had been wandering around Eastern Tennessee for months, going from farm to farm after her owner died. Harley is a pup who was sold at five weeks old, so loaded with parasites and coccidia, it nearly killed her. Jet was tied to a tree for weeks after his owner died. We rescued him the day before he was scheduled to be euthanized. Bruce was shot by his owner for eating a chicken and wandered around Tennessee horribly injured. We hoped to save his leg but it had to be amputated. Our latest neediest cases, who need your help now, can be seen here. We've been actively committed to supporting this breed since 2006 and the need never stops.

NGPR provides front-line rescue east of the Mississippi and funding as the non-profit umbrella for Pyr rescues west of the Mississippi. We underwrite costly medical expenditures and organize weekly transports to move dogs out of high-kill shelter areas. Our 800 shelter and adoption hotline numbers and owner surrender programs assist Pyrs and Pyr owners throughout the United States. We constantly strive to meet the increasingly large number of owner surrenders and shelter dogs needing rescue. The growth of homesteading and the number of dogs posted for sale on Facebook and other social media have added to the problem. To read more about us and our commitment to rescue, click here.

Your donation will help rehabilitate a Pyr-in-need. We also make it easy to donate with a monthly donation that fits your budget. After clicking on the blue donate button above, click on the box "Make this a recurring monthly donation." It's easy to do and you can support rescue all year. It costs more to board, spay/neuter, feed and transport big dogs. We need your  donation, which is tax-deductible, so we can give the big dogs the big help they need.

To remember someone on their special day or in memoriam, we have appropriately themed cards that can be sent at your request for a donation of $25 or more. Cards will be sent within one week of receipt of the donation. If you are making an online donation, please include the name and full address of the honoree in the notes section provided during the PayPal transaction or forward your electronic receipt with the honoree information to director@nationalpyr.org
