- Good with Dogs

This gorgeous girl is Lucy – young and already a pretty big girl. Lucy did not have a great start in life but we are determined to change that and find her a great home of her own. She is sweet and loves people and she is good on leash and would do well either as your one and only or with another large male dog (no small dogs). She likes to play hard with her dog pals in the play yard and then curl up for a nap afterwards. Lucy loves to go for car rides, loves her toys (any kind!) and is not a big barker. She is a typical female Pyrenees who will do best in a home with people that know and understand the breed. Lucy came in from a very neglectful situation where she was never taken to a vet and never got fed enough, so she resource guards with food around other dogs and needs to be fed separately. She will now gently take food from your hand. Despite her rough start, Lucy has so much potential - she is smart and learns quickly. She walks great on leash and does fine meeting another male dog and playing with him. She may be a bit too playful for a senior dog but does great with younger large males that she has met. Due to her food guarding we are looking to re-home her to a family without children as she may be grumbly around her food bowl (we are also recommending a cat-free home). Lucy was one of those dogs who was stuck out in her owners back yard and largely ignored but she is continuing to blossom now that she is getting care and attention and great meals. We are all thankful she is safe in rescue now and look forward to finding her a great family who will continue to work with her. She is still young and still growing and is a beautiful Pyrenees girl - Lucy is coming around so well and will be a great dog for some lucky owner!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
