This absolutely gorgeous Great Pyrenees/Golden retriever mix is George and he is a very sweet, happy, energetic young fellow. He is a beautiful boy with the most striking golden and cream colored coat. George is very tall with long legs and is still a young guy so he is energetic - he loves to play and loves to go for walks. He would do great with an active family who has a fenced in yard and enjoys taking walks or hikes. George will need secure tall fencing as he is so tall he would easily get over a shorter fence if he was so inclined. He met a cat and was very excited, so we're not sure if he has ever lived with them before but he would be likely to chase them. He would love a young playful female dog pal to bounce around the yard with, one whose energy matches his own. He is pretty good on leash and getting better but can still use a little improvement as he gets very excited when outside. He absolutely loves attention and he does like to jump up and hug you as he gets so excited to see people, but his foster is working with him on that :) George would do best with a Pyr-experienced adopter. He seems very smart and eager to learn so he would benefit from some basic obedience training. Prior to rescue, George had the misfortune to end up at a very crowded shelter and went unclaimed before his stray hold was up. We were happy to get him to rescue just in time and he seems especially thankful to be safe - he would absolutely love a great home to go to. We just love this big handsome guy and so will you! Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
