Beautiful, gentle young Etta is oh so sweet and easy. This girl didn’t have a great start in life, coming into rescue as an owner surrender with four six-month old pups. She was kept tied up, very underweight but was so affectionate and appreciative when she was taken into rescue. Etta is the total PYR package—she does great when being groomed, rides well in the car and is very respectful of the 5 ft fence and in true Pyr fashion will bark to warn off intruders. Etta greets all dogs with a friendly tail wag—loving everyone. She is not a big player but will sometimes join in for a chase around the yard. She could easily be placed with other dogs or as an only dog. She will follow her person around just in case they need a head to pet—she is there and ready to receive :) Etta is quite gentle with cats so a feline friend is a definite yes for Etta—especially if her furever home doesn’t have another dog. This girls’ gentle nature even shows thru when she greets her foster's young grandson—so kids are also a yes for this girl! Etta loves being in the middle of everything and rarely walks away from her human. This girl would love a home with a family with plenty of time and love who will teach her the joy of toys and unconditional love—is that your family?

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
