My Story

Betsy is a wonderful, adult Pyr who is active enough to keep you moving with the adorable personality we know and love from our favorite breed! After proper introductions, Betsy loves her humans and will follow them from room to room. Betsy had a rough start in life so she’s a bit slower to warm up to new visitors in the home. A quiet home, with a human who’s around to hang out with her, would be best for Betsy. Once you’ve earned her trust, she loves to be pet and kissed, and she will happily let you brush her all day long :) Betsy is house trained and good inside the home but has been known to counter surf from time to time. Like a typical Pyr, protecting her home is her number one priority so she’s not a fan of cars passing by the house or those pesky birds coming into her yard. Betsy likes her peace and quiet, therefore young, loud children are not for her - she’s not a fan of screaming or commotion so a quiet home environment will be best. Betsy is doing well with her canine foster siblings but will require proper introduction to any dogs. She doesn’t want any dogs near her food so feeding her separately is a must. Betsy loves to alert her humans of incoming threats, when outdoors, but indoors she is relatively calm. Being a southern girl, she's not a big fan of winter, but she does love to lay in the cool AC on hot days! She also loves a good kong toy or deer antler but should always be supervised with soft stuffed toys as she’s been known to swallow one or two in the past! Betsy is smart and strong with great energy and with patience, she will assimilate into her new environment nicely and reward you with lots of love. She is sure to keep a smile on your face with her wonderful pyrsonality. If you have the quiet home that Betsy is looking for please apply for this sweet girl today!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
