My Story
Adoption Pending. You can see more of these beautiful dogs by clicking on Rescue Dogs.
This big handsome young boy is Barney and he is such a sweetheart! He is such a happy guy with the most beautiful black and white coat and he always seems to be happy and good-natured. He is such a handsome fellow, he turns heads wherever he goes. Barney is a super nice boy, great with other dogs, both males and females. Barney walks nicely on leash and he is now fully vetted and being treated for heartworm, doing well on the slow kill method and we will provide all medications necessary to finish his treatment. Barney came in to rescue as a stray from an overcrowded Alabama shelter. He has such a great personality, it's hard to believe these poor dogs never get reclaimed once they go missing. Barney came in with a coat in very poor shape so he has since been shaved but his beautiful black and white coat is growing in so nicely now. We're not sure if he has lived indoors before but he is very neat in his kennel so he will pick up house training in no time. Barney is a big handsome fellow in need of a great home or foster home - everybody that meets Barney just loves him so we can't wait to see this handsome guy get a great home of his own!

Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
We may consider fostering for some of our dogs who are in boarding. Please visit Fostering FAQfor an application and information about our fostering program.
If you can't foster or adopt at this time, please consider helping our Neediest Cases or making a tax-exempt donation by visiting our Donate page.
