Help Needed for Buchanan, GA Pyrs

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Two females are URGENT at Haralson County Animal Control. Their time was up yesterday, but because the shelter wasn’t full, they are still there today.

NGPR’s GA volunteer needs help with fostering. She can hold them short-term but they need a longer-term foster.

E-mail mary@nationalpyr.org if you can help.

Memphis Shelter Update

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

NGPR’s volunteer in Memphis went to the shelter today and paid the pull fee, only to find that someone had come by yesterday and committed to the female adult Pyr “pending a  heartworm test”.  Blood was drawn but test results are not back.

The shelter administration was apologetic, but did not want to lose the potential adopter by releasing the dog to rescue today.  The dog is gorgeous, probably younger than the estimated age of five; picked up as a stray.  One way or the other, help is on the way for that dog.  If things don’t work out with the adopter, rescue is next in line.

The fluffy white puppy is now believed to be a Chow mix, not a Pyr.  We hope she finds a loving home.
